We are recruiting! We are interested in growing our group and encourage interested people check out below for more details about current availability. We are currently funded through a R00 award from NIEHS to assess several types of common environmental surfactants in cell assays and zebrafish and an EPA STAR grant to evaluate mixtures of organic contaminants, have diverse pilot projects that are ongoing, and are actively pursuing other funding opportunities.
If you're interested in joining our group, read more below and email me your CV/resume and interest(s). I feel strongly about open communication and clear expectations, a friendly/inclusive and cooperative lab environment, and a positive work-life balance for everyone in the lab. |
Graduate Students |
We have openings for one or more PhD and/or MS students in our group!
While our laboratory home is in the Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, I am also a graduate faculty member in the Department of Pharmacology in the School of Medicine. If you are a graduate student in Pharmacology, I'm happy to discuss rotation projects and the potential for joining my group. If you're a graduate student in another department at Wayne State and interested in joining, reach out and I can pursue a secondary appointment to allow for working with my group during your degree program. If you are not yet a Wayne State graduate student, you can read more about applying to the Department of Pharmacology here or here, or to other departments here. Please feel free to email me with any questions! |
Medical StudentsUndergraduate Students |
My joint position within the Department of Pharmacology provides opportunities for MD and/or MD/PhD students to get involved in research projects in the lab. We have diverse human health-centric research projects active in the lab and I'm happy to discuss potential projects with you.
We're always interested in undergraduate trainee support! Undergrads can support with laboratory sample preparation and extraction (e.g., water samples, silicone wristbands, etc.), cell culture mechanism questions, and zebrafish colony care and support. Over time and with interest, they can also get involved with independent or group projects, including both cell culture and zebrafish.
There are currently openings for undergrad researchers, so please reach out if you're interested in getting involved! |
Postdoctoral Researchers |
There are no active recruitment plans for a postdoc in our group at this time. However, if you want to pursue a postdoc here, I encourage you to reach out, preferably ahead of time, and we can talk about current staffing, grant/funding support, and whether we could find a home for you here in our group. I'm also very happy to discuss your interests and see how we can carve out independent research questions for your own career development.

Research Assistants/
|
We are not looking for an additional Research Assistant at this point in time. Our RA helps with overall lab operations, helps lab members with their individual projects, but also has the ability to take on an ownership role for some of their own research - and publish it! We encourage those interested to explore the other avenues for getting involved with the laboratory.
